Plant cells equal cellular?

Samsung uses corn-based bioplastics in its new eco-phone

Technology-savvy environmentalists have another option for more earth-friendly dialing with the release of Samsung’s newest eco-phone.

Last week, the company unveiled its E200 Eco, a cell phone with a case made entirely from materials derived from corn. This product is the third green cell phone Samsung has released this year, though the other two employed lesser amounts of the bioplastics, according to The New York Times.

Unfortunately for American treehuggers, the product isn’t scheduled for sale stateside. It will be available in Europe in September, and reportedly will come wrapped in recycled materials.
