Chico State earns props from another Web site dedicated to sustainability

A popular Web site dedicated to eco-conscious living has given props to Chico State.

New York-based DailyGreen, a Hearst Magazine Internet publication, ranked Chico 10th among the top 10 colleges and universities in the nation leading the way in sustainability and environmental awareness. Other campuses rated by the site include College of the Atlantic (No. 1) in Bar Harbor, Maine, and Evergreen State College (No. 3) in Olympia, Wash.

The honor comes about a year after a similar list by Seattle-based Grist ranked Chico No. 8 among its picks for the top 15 green campuses in the world. Both Web sites acknowledged Chico’s grand prize in the National Wildlife Federation’s national Chill-Out contest, as well as its solar array and other energy-saving projects.
