The Isley Brothers, Gold Country Casino (Oroville), Friday, Aug. 2 • 8 p.m.

The Beatles covered their songs. Jimi Hendrix played sessions with them. They encouraged us to “Shout!” Told us, “It’s your thing/Do what you gotta’ do,” and admonished us to “Fight the Power.” And now Grammy Award-winning, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees The Isley Brothers arrive in the Northstate. Ronald and Ernie Isley (pictured) bring their unique brand of soul, funk and R&B to Gold Country Casino, located at 5 Tyme Way, in Oroville. Formed in Cincinnati, Ohio, the brothers had their first hit in 1959 with "Shout!" They were one of the first bands to form their own record label (T-Neck, after new base of operations, Teaneck, New Jersey), and continued to evolve musically and garner hits into the ‘90s. Tickets are available at the Gold Country Box Office and at Diamond W Western Wear in Chico. More info: (530) 538-4560.
