Hot Buttered Soul; Black Moses; Shaft

With the collecting of vinyl becoming less and less the exclusive hobby of audiophilic purists, many classic titles are in the process of being reissued for a new generation of discerning listeners. The world mourned the loss of Isaac Hayes a decade ago, and three of his biggest touchstones were recently given the remastered/replica treatment by Craft Recordings. Sourced from the original analog recordings and cut into hefty 180-gram vinyl, each release is a trip down a sultry thoroughfare of some of Hayes’ most influential moments, including the trippy, sexy 12-minute version of Dionne Warwick’s “Walk on By” from his sophomore record, Hot Buttered Soul. Hayes traditionalists will dig the faithfully reproduced Black Moses packaging, complete with the infamous fold-out cross-shaped image of Hayes as the title character. If you’re tired of searching for thrift store copies of Shaft, you can dig this.
