Plants that resist flames

The weather is heating up in Butte County, and that means the possibility of wildfire, as we all know from hard experience. If you haven’t done so already, now is the time to consider planting vegetation around your home that is fire-resistant. While no plant is completely non-flammable, some are less prone to burning than others. Here is a list of some of those plants, which happen to be drought-tolerant and California natives as well:

Monkeyflower (Mimulus)
Sage (Salvia)
Common yarrow
California sycamore
California fuchsia <bt>Wild strawberry
