Evolution or creation?
The Pope announced last week that he believes there’s not enough evidence to support the theory of evolution. Recent polls of people around the United States, compiled by www.pollingreport.com, show that he’s not alone in that belief.
Question, asked in a recent Newsweek poll: “Do you think the scientific theory of evolution is well-supported by evidence and widely accepted within the scientific community?”
Question, asked by the Pew Research Center for the People & the Press and Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life survey in 2006: “Would you generally favor or oppose teaching creationism along with evolution in public schools?”
Question, in a 2006 CBS News poll: “Which of the following statements comes closest to your views on the origin of human beings? (1) Human beings evolved from less advanced life forms over millions of years, and God did not directly guide this process. (2) Human beings evolved from less advanced life forms over millions of years, but God guided this process. (3) God created human beings in their present form.”
