Doll-dollars benefit kids

Dolls for a cause

A local fundraising group created in honor of a woman who died of cancer presented a $1,000 check to the Feather River Hospital Cancer Center on Monday (Aug. 15), according to an FRH press release.

The women’s group Molly ‘n’ Friends raises money for local cancer victims in memory of Molly Williams, a woman who co-founded the Caribou Women’s Club, which provides women with support and companionship. After Williams passed away two years ago, the group designed a cloth Molly Doll with a special purse containing note cards scribed with positive messages. A portion of each sale goes to the North Valley Community Foundation, which distributes the money to cancer causes of the group’s choosing.

The $1,000 will benefit the Let Your Colors Shine program at FRH’s cancer center, in which kids who have family members suffering from cancer learn about grief and healing through games and art. Dolls can be purchased at the FRH gift shop, Made in Chico (232 Main St.) and at www.mollynfriends.org.
