Divine environmentalism

Environmental efforts have leapt forth from the highest reaches of the Catholic Church with Pope Benedict appearing to work overtime to protect the Earth’s natural resources.

According to Reuters, within the span of four days, Benedict asked his general audience (16,000 parishioners) in St. Peter’s Square to take better care of the planet. A few days earlier, he led an eco-friendly youth rally in central Italy attended by nearly half a million people.

The pope reportedly made specific references to water resources, climate change and environmental preservation. At the rally, he called upon world leaders to take action before it is too late.
