Every form of music goes through a period of accelerated growth and/or change taking it to whole new levels nobody has heard or seen before, opening it up to a whole new audience that normally would not have looked twice or thought about it. So for those of you living under a rock, metal is now officially where it’s at. At the center of it all is a label called Relapse Records, an up-n-coming indie label that boasts a roster of bands that, given the chance, could forever change people’s perception of heavy metal.
“But where do I start? How do I know what band I’ll like?” Lucky for you, Relapse has a cheap series of sampler CDs showcasing every band on the label, so you don’t have to go out and drop $20 on a band you’ve never heard before. This particular two-disc edition of the Contaminated series gives you a chance to check out amazingly heavy bands such as Nerousis, Nile, Soilent Green, Mortician, High on Fire and Mastodon. Every band represents a different sub-genre of metal, and all of them do it exceptionally well. So put down those pansy-ass Fat Wrekchords, Epitaph and Hot Topic mall punk compilations and come to where the real rock is.
