Busy crime weekend

Chico PD respond to a host of fights, DUIs and other disturbances

This past weekend was a particularly busy one for Chico police officers, who, between Friday and Saturday nights, broke up fights, investigated DUIs, responded to car accidents and made 21 arrests, mostly in the south campus area.

Among the calls received by dispatch, 53 were for fights or disturbances, two were stabbings, 39 were noise or party complaints, five gunshots were heard, six were vehicle collisions and seven were overdose-related. Police also investigated nine DUI reports and recovered two stolen vehicles.

“While the weekend night patrol officers have grown accustomed to working busy shifts in the August and early September months, this weekend we experienced a noteworthy high-call volume,” according to a press release.
