Before you ink

Contaminated tattoo products recalled

For those looking to add a little color to their skin by way of a new tattoo, note that not all products are created equally. Dr. Ron Chapman, director of the state Department of Public Health, recently warned against the use of White & Blue Lion tattoo inks and needles after tests found microbial bacteria in them.

Contaminated products like these can result in infection and even sepsis, which is life-threatening. Currently, only one case of infection has been linked to White & Blue Lion products.

White & Blue Lion, which is based out of City of Industry in Southern California, is voluntarily recalling a variety of products sold on Amazon.com either directly from them or through a company called 8Decades. They include ink, needles and tattoo kits that come with both.
