Barker gets a standing O

It would be an understatement to say that the City Council welcomed Lori Barker (pictured) as the new city attorney at its Tuesday (July 17) meeting. Not only did it unanimously vote to confirm her appointment, councilmembers rose from their seats and, joined by a couple dozen city employees in chambers, gave her a standing ovation.

Barker succeeds Dave Frank, who is retiring after 10 years. She has been assistant city attorney for 17 years. Councilman Steve Bertagna said the hardest part about appointing her would be finding her replacement. She will be paid 190,000 annually.
