Bake sales pay off

Local bank employees pool resources for charity

Employees at Chico's Golden Valley Bank have baked, sold drinks at local events and paid to wear jeans at work this past year, all in the name of charity. Each year, the bank's staff chooses a worthy cause to support and in 2015, that cause was Catalyst Domestic Violence Services. In all, they raised more than $5,000, which was matched by a donation of $5,000 by the Golden Valley Bank Community Foundation.

Since the 1970s, Catalyst has offered crisis-intervention services to Butte County residents who are victims of domestic violence and abuse. Its services include a 24-hour crisis line as well as an emergency shelter. A check for $10,268.28 was presented to the organization last week.
