Artists and downtown businesses team up for window-display project

Chico businesses are getting all gussied up for October. In recognition of the month-long Artoberfest celebration, downtown businesses have opened their storefronts for the Chico Art Commission’s annual Window Art Project.

This is the 17th year that the commission has encouraged local businesses to join forces with artists of various media to create window displays as a way to support and show off local art. More than 40 artists and businesses have teamed up this year—from Geri Mahood and The Rawbar to Garnetta Finnegan and the Christian Science Reading Room—making downtown into an open-air art gallery.

Make a day of it by picking up a brochure listing participating artists/businesses at any participating business, or downloading one on the City Arts Program page on the city of Chico website, www.ci.chico.ca.us.
