Arrested Development: Season Three

Fox Home Video

While one could take umbrage in the fact that Fox canned this delightfully twisted series way too early in its short lifespan, solace could be taken in that at least it seemed as if the network tried its very darnedest to allow a solid audience to show up to participate in the weekly misadventures of the cosmically put-upon Bluth family before they sighed and let loose with the axe. So in the end we received three seasons and with enough warning of impending doom, the creators were allowed time enough to plan ahead and attempt to tie up as many narrative and character arcs as creatively possible. While not as entirely satisfying as one would wish, the end result still stands as a more-than-complete package in whole. With a level of writing that reveals more subtleties upon each reviewing, the Bluth family dysfunctions stand as a part of television that, while potentially slow to warm to, ultimately delivers in many ways most television doesn’t.
