The Chico Police Department recently released its annual report, which includes crime statistics for the previous year. Comparing 2015 to 2014, the only crime that went down was robbery, with most of that drop being robberies of the strong-arm variety (from 61 to 42), while robberies involving firearms dropped from 16 to 4. There are also numbers reported for the first quarter in 2016, and so far things have improved in most areas compared to last year, with murders (from 2 to 0), robberies (24 to 11), assaults (157 to 129), and burglaries (148 to 118) all down from the first three months in 2015.
