You can dance if you want to

And they say white men can’t jump!

And they say white men can’t jump!

Calling all math-o-phobes. Dr. Schaffer and Mr. Stern want to ease your numerical fears and show you that, really, math is everywhere, and it’s not out to harm you. Their show Two Guys Dancing About Math uses tap dance, clapping, basketballs, fly swatters and audience participation to answer this question: “How is it that we find mathematics—and dance—in everything we do?” In the 12 years since the two professors premiered the show at the California Math Council’s annual conference, they’ve been touring with it nonstop. Suitable for children and adults, it’s a comical and accessible way to explore a sometimes-alienating subject. See it for free this Friday at 6 p.m. at the Rumsey Rancheria Grand Lobby inside the Mondavi Center at UC Davis. Call (530) 757-3199 for more information.
