Hump day this week is sponsored by the Turf Hop Alliance, who’ll be taking over downtown Sac. I e-mailed local emcee Blee to get an explanation of what the hell “turf hop” means. He replied—and then I accidentally deleted his response. Dang. So I visited the Turf Hop Alliance’s blog (http://tha1p.tumblr.com), which explains that Blee and Npire Da Great founded the THA in 2008 with the goal of having backpack rappers achieve a “grittier” West Coast sound.
