Trailercana

As you might expect from the album title, Antsy McClain is kind of a joker, but his homespun humor isn’t the least bit nasty or condescending. Trailercana laughs with, not at, the folks who live in Middle America, and the Trailer Park Troubadours are a smokin’ outfit with chops to spare. No matter what you expect from a song called “I Was Just Flipped Off by a Silver-Haired Old Lady with a ‘Honk if You Love Jesus’ Sticker on the Bumper of Her Car,” you’ll be surprised. The tune’s country-gospel groove, close harmony singing and message of forgiveness make it a transcendent parable for our troubled times. Big names like Lindsey Buckingham, Tommy Smothers and Bonnie Bramlett put in guest appearances, but it’s McClain’s first-class songwriting and heartfelt singing that make this one a keeper.
