The last couple of years have generally been good to the DuPree clan. Between band members getting married and the group of siblings gladly letting their Warner Bros. Records contract expire in favor of a more independent label, Eisley’s path has looked bright. It may be surprising then to hear angst, sadness and anger on its latest, The Valley. Then again, divorce, a broken engagement and tension with a record label will do that. A departure from the fantasy and whimsicality of earlier releases, the album is a hauntingly beautiful juxtaposition of melodic rock and stark imagery, particularly on the album’s epic closing track, “Ambulance.” 1417 R Street, www.eisley.com.
