The presidential election is over, and, regardless of the outcome, it’s safe to say that most educated voters had an understanding of where the candidates stood on issues like health care, the environment and international policies. Still, perhaps there was one piece of undisclosed information that could have proved helpful in the decision-making process. Did the candidates have a favorite kind of cookie? And, if so, what was it? If voters had picked up a copy of Presidential Cookies: The Lure and the Lore, a new cookbook by local author Bev Young, they would’ve discovered the recipes of more than 60 cookies worthy of presidential praise—not to mention the book’s numerous anecdotes about various U.S. presidents. Discover more about the book when Young makes an appearance this Saturday at the Franklin Community Library, located at 10055 Franklin High Road in Elk Grove. The free program starts at 2 p.m. Call (916) 264-2920 for more information.
