Sty of the Blind Pig

Set in the early ’50s in an apartment on Chicago’s South Side, Alberta (Cesha Ellison, in a breakout performance) and her mother, Weedy (Cynthia Gatlin), live in an armed truce of unhappiness, punctuated by the appearance of Weedy’s brother, Doc (Kelton Howard). When an itinerant street singer, Blind Jordan (Romann Hodge), shows up at the door looking for a mysterious woman, the balance is upset and the family’s fault lines are revealed.
