Shakespeare on the move

Take note, Shakespeare fans. Much Ado About Nothing and As You Like It, the two productions that played at the Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival from mid-July through August 22, have migrated from Lake Tahoe’s Sand Harbor to the Nevada County Fairgrounds in Grass Valley. There, they will run through September 17 as the Sierra Shakespeare Festival. If you’re asking, “What gives?” here’s the skinny: The Foothill Theatre Company produces the shows at Sand Harbor under contract. The shows in Grass Valley are virtually identical. They have the same professional actors in the leads, wearing the same costumes and using the same sets. The difference is that Grass Valley is about an hour closer to Sacramento, and the tickets cost less. You’ll find capsule reviews of both productions on the right. If you missed them in Tahoe, call (530) 265-8587 or visit www.foothilltheatre.org for tickets.
