Serendipity

Rated 3.0 A boy (John Cusack) and a girl (Kate Beckinsale) meet at NYC’s Bloomingdale’s, have a nice evening ice skating, and then part ways. Years later, with both characters engaged to be married, they continue to second-guess the fact that they didn’t stay in touch and begin searching for one another. The film is one of the year’s dumbest, but it is also one of the sweetest thanks to Cusack and Beckinsale, who are too damned cute for words. You won’t care how ridiculous things get, because the performers are as likable as can be. Molly Shannon and Jeremy Piven excel in the best friend roles, and Eugene Levy makes a good cameo as a snippy tie salesman.
