Say It Isn’t So!

Rated 1.0 What we have here is yet even more proof that the kingpins of gross-out humor, the Farrelly bothers, have pretty much blown their creative load, limited now to shooting “comedic” blanks. Here, they try to get dumb and dumber yet by teaming with some schmuck involved with American Pie, with a result that, while not especially inept, is excruciatingly inert. This film tries to top past offensive set pieces but falls flat. If you’ve seen the previews, you’ve been lucky enough to get the Cliff’s Notes—boy meets girl, they fall in love and do the nasty, only to find that they may be long-lost siblings. Blah, blah, blah. Other than 90-odd minutes of uninspired cheap shots, the only thing the trailers don’t reveal is whether or not there is a happy ending … oh, the suspense.
