Masks—not just for faces anymore!

Masks—not just for faces anymore!

You haven’t seen it all until you’ve seen a larva dancing its way to Broadway. Luckily, the five slashies (actor/mimer/dancer/athletes) of the Portland-based troupe Imago will give you the chance to grasp said experience with their current traveling show. Frogz is a series of vignettes that utilize dancing, creative costumes, original masks and an eclectic soundtrack to create a program whose appeal transcends the bounds of age and language. Competitive penguins waddle through a game of musical chairs, athletic frogs leap over one another and dancing orbs roll across the stage. And let’s not forget the aforementioned larva, cavorting on stage with surprising personality for creatures that haven’t yet developed legs. Frogz, bound for Broadway this May, will stop in Davis for two shows only before continuing its tour to where the neon lights are bright. Consider yourself warned: If you slack this weekend, you’ll have to fly to NYC to catch them. Be there Saturday at 2 p.m. or 7 p.m. Admission is $25 for adults and $10 for kids. Main Theatre, UC Davis. Call (530) 752-9424 for more information.
