Art and religion have gone hand in hand through the ages. Gallery W examines the modern-day uses and applications of the ancient art of religious iconography through a new show titled Window Into Eternity; A Rediscovery of Holy Images. With pieces culled from well-known iconographers from around the country, the exhibit displays images whose first and foremost intent is to inspire prayer and meditation well above their function as art. But, as with many crafts with a primary objective outside its artistic role, they offer a different view and prove to be insightful. The show runs through Sunday, Nov. 12, with an artists’ reception 6-9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14.
