Funny and surprisingly real, local playwright Matthew Burlingame’s adaptation of Matthew Crehan Higgin’s one-man show is a winner. Matt (Michael Hedges), a hopeless romantic who falls in love too quickly (and with the wrong men), finally thinks he’s found the “love of his life” in a closeted bisexual named Tom (Steve Thompson) that he meets online. But poor Matt didn’t expect the relationship to become the epitome of the Stylistics’ song “Break Up to Make Up”—or to land him on a shrink’s (Bethany Hidden-Cauley) couch, spilling his heart out. A charming cast and a relatable story makes this an emotional roller coaster with plenty of familiar laughs. Th, F, Sa 8pm. Through 2/5. $15.
