One Night at McCool’s

Rated 4.0 The telling of the joke here is as good as the payoff in this Rashomon-style noir comedy told from the respective points-of-view of a bartender (Matt Dillon), a lawyer (Paul Reiser) and a cop (John Goodman), each of whom has had his heart torn out and crushed in the grip of one femme fatale (Liv Tyler). Tyler hits the right notes as a siren, maintaining believability as she lures all three, adding enough spice to separate this film from all other half-assed non-contenders.
