Juggle fever

What goes up must come down.

What goes up must come down.

Although the Damento juggling club isn’t named after demented people, things might get crazy during their annual juggling festival this weekend. Damento is a portmanteau of Davis and Sacramento, the cities from which the club draws members. Damento’s juggling festival is co-hosted by the Cordova Community Council. Starting Saturday morning, there will be a whole day of open juggling, vendors and workshops from juggling pros at the George Washington Carver School of Arts and Science auditorium. Beginning to advanced jugglers can improve by taking hourlong workshops. A community juggling show will also be held Saturday night at 7 p.m., with Rancho Cordova Mayor Robert J. McGarvey throwing out the first club. The show will be hosted by Rick Rubenstein, inventor of the juggling pattern “Rubenstein’s Revenge.” Classes continue Sunday morning, with concessions available throughout the festival. Just don’t start with the knives first.
