Rubin “Hurricane” Carter keeps up the good fight.

In case you missed the Bob Dylan ballad or the Denzel Washington film about his life, here’s a little background on Rubin “Hurricane” Carter: In the early 1960s, Carter was a professional boxer and a fixture at the Madison Square Garden fights. In 1966, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for a triple homicide on the thinnest of circumstantial evidence. For more than two decades, he fought from inside prison to prove his wrongful conviction. Since his exoneration in 1988, Carter has continued his fight to change the legal system through his Association in Defense of the Wrongly Convicted. Hear this man’s amazing story when he visits Freeborn Hall at UC Davis, Wednesday, January 30, at 8 p.m. Admission is $29 adults, $14.50 children. Call (530) 752-1915 for more information.
