Fri., July 19, Amy Reed

Shine, 8 p.m., $5

When Amy Reed opens for Flint Blade & Honeydew, a clarinet and chapman-stick duo from Florida, she'll perform with violist Christina Maradik-Symkowick, temporarily straying from her regular collaborators Ross Hammond and Phillip Greenlief. Singer, songwriter, guitarist, teacher and painter, Reed recently recorded an album with Hammond featuring the traditional songs—think Appalachian style—that she teaches and performs, plus some originals. On songs like “River” and “Cuckoo,” Reed proves that she knows how important voice is to communicating story. Sacramento singer-songwriter Jahari Sai, whose new album The Kiss is scheduled to be released this summer, will also perform. 1400 E Street, http://lukebibleamyreed.wordpress.com.
