Get ready Sacto: Four legit Cali acts, plus deejays, are ready to rock Tropicana hard. Murs has been grinding for years; he’s a member of Living Legends and 3 Melancholy Gypsys. Coming up from SoCal, this vegan emcee will be supporting his new LP, Fornever, recorded with 9th Wonder. The beats are consistent, clean and intelligently sequenced; the lyrics are steady, fluctuating between end-rhyme lines and continual narrative flows about relationships with women and negative effects of “Cigarettes and Liquor.”

But perhaps most importantly, Murs is above the superficial; forget money and swagger. With dreadlocks extending from his head in multiple gravity-defying directions, he’s all about enjoying the familiar and comic details of our social interactions.

Openers Los Rakas, a Panamanian duo of DunDun and Rico, a.k.a. Filthy Rich, flow en español with upbeat reggaeton influences. Their smooth grooves are guaranteed to induce movement, or so I’ve heard, so bring your dancing shoes. DLRN will showcase shine-polished rhymes and nonchalant, laid-back flows. Decorated local encee Chase Moore will open with his fresh-pressed freestyle. Artwork will also be displayed.
