Radishes are one of the fastest-growing root veggies. They’re available practically year-round here, but some of the prettiest varieties come to market right about now. Look for slender French breakfast radishes and pastel-colored Easter Egg beauties. They tend to be less spicy than the winter varieties, perfect in salads or for breakfast with top-quality butter and cracked salt, as the French do. You can also make a quick pickle and serve them with tacos. Don’t forget to stir-fry the leaves. They’re part of the same brassica family as broccoli and cabbage.
