Eight Gigs: The Dickies

Mon., July 11, 8 p.m., Blue Lamp, $20-$25

Behold, two legendary pop-punk bands are coming to Sacramento: the Dickies (pictured), who formed in the San Fernando Valley in 1977, and the Queers, who formed in New Hampshire in 1981. Both bands worship at the altar of the Ramones and mix bubble-gum pop melodies, fun lyrics and hard-driving punk rock beats. It’s a format repeated 1,000 times over, but you’d be hard pressed to find two better bands at it. The Dickies are a bit campier than the Queers, who sing about girls a lot (accompanied by occasional camp). But both bands produce stuck-in-your-head-all-day ear-worm punk tunes. 1400 Alhambra, www.thedickies.com.
