Eight Gigs: Life on Mars

The world was left a little duller with the death of David Bowie last month, and the reverberations of his influence as a musician, artist and cultural icon are still being felt around the world. Sixty local artists were assigned a line from “Life on Mars?” off of the 1971 album Hunky Dory to interpret as a piece of art, and their work will be on display as a visual tribute to one of rock ’n’ roll’s singular visionaries. Local bands Mondo Deco, Skywalker and Klaiber will be putting on a tribute concert as the community gathers to honor the starman. 1400 Alhambra Boulevard, www.facebook.com/events/
