Eight Gigs: Anonymous 4

Fri., March 6, 8 p.m., Mondavi Center, $21-$42

In 1865 Congress passed the Thirteenth Amendment, Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated for his second term as president, was assassinated a month later and the Civil War came to an end. To commemorate the war's end and relate personal stories of individuals and families from the North and the South, Anonymous 4's new album 1865 is a selection of songs and instrumentals drawn from theater and America's heartland. Special guest Bruce Molsky will join the all-female quartet for this show, a departure from the group's traditional repertoire: adaptations of 12th- and 13th-century chants and polyphony to women's voices. The group's been together for nearly 30 years. 9399 Old Davis Road in Davis, http://anonymous4.com.
