Do You Believe?

Rated 2.0

… in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? That's the second half of the question posed by the title, as Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon's script follows a mixed bag of characters, all of them in various crises—both worldly and spiritual. Konzelman and Solomon are two of the writers behind last year's God's Not Dead, and this one mirrors the earlier movie's mix of melodrama, cardboard characters, clichéd dialogue and heavy-handed preachifying. The cast is a motley mix of the known (Mira Sorvino, Sean Astin, Delroy Lindo, Ted McGinley, Alexa PenaVega, Lee Majors, Cybill Shepherd) and unknown (Liam Matthews, Andrea Logan White, Arthur Cartwright, Madison Pettis, Mackenzie Moss), all doing their best to deliver Konzelman and Solomon's awkward sermon, under Jonathan M. Gunn's equally awkward direction. J.L.
