Perfect is the debut recording from the Diremakers, a band based out of Short Center North, a school for developmentally disabled persons in Sacramento. The CD is the culmination of years of work with the students whose voices are featured on the album. They have overcome amazing obstacles, including blindness and autism, to play in this band. The music is vocal R&B with keyboards supporting the singers. The songs, with the exception of a couple of covers, are written by Greg Germany, who also produced the album and is the singers’ music teacher. At times, the album feels overly coached, but the Diremakers’ voices are totally unpretentious and honest. Ellen’s soulful cover of James Brown’s “I Got You (I Feel Good)” is a musical gem that makes the whole album worth picking up. Call (916) 973-1951 to obtain a copy.
