Chocolate reign

New Year's resolution: Eat more chocolate? That's not usually on anyone's list of goals for a new year, but you might just want to take a sick day on Wednesday, January 25, 2014, anyway, and head to the Sacramento Chocolate Salon. Happening from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Citizen Hotel (926 J Street), this event, which organizers plan to make an annual occurrence, will allow participants to taste some of the best chocolate from the area (including offerings from 24K Cafe at Ancient Future, Oscura Chocolate and About a Bite Bakery). There will also be more chocolate makers from out of town, wine tasting, chocolate-making demonstrations, and chefs and authors giving presentations. The Best in Salon Awards will be given to the area's top chocolatiers and confectioners. Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door, and they include all tastings, talks and demonstrations.
