Body of work
Where to find it: Pakistani émigrés and complementary couple Ruby Chishti and Khalil Chishtee take over the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento, with life-sized figurative sculptures and installation work, called Duet. Using plastic garbage bags (Chishtee), bandage, cotton, gauze and thread (Chishti), the artists create haunting figures that require a reckoning. Indeed, this is a don’t-miss show. And also don’t miss the artists’ lectures, either: Chishtee’s lecture on Thursday, January 8, at 7 p.m.; and Chishti’s on Thursday, February 12, at 7 p.m. Opening reception is on Second Saturday, January 10, 6 to 9 p.m.
