Get a Sharpie and mark this on your arm, stat: Saturday night. October 1. Block Party. Free. 20th Street.

You don’t want to sleep on the 20th annual SN&R Sammies Block Party and Music Awards. It’s on Saturday, October 1, from 5 to 10 p.m. outside on 20th Street in Midtown between K and J streets. There’ll be the requisite beer garden and good times, sure. But the performances are what’ll take the big 2-0 anniversary cake: a special jam by Zuhg and friends, indie troupe Exquisite Corps featuring the Pamela Hayes Classical Ballet, local funk gods the Nibblers closing out the night with their party vibe, a singer-songwriter showcase with Autumn Sky and Be Brave Bold Robot and friends, and “Joints and Jams: The Sequel,” the encore performance of last year’s Sammies show-stopping hip-hop showdown featuring DJ Rated R and Sleeprockers, Chuuwee, C-Plus, Random Abiladeze, Self, Mahtie Bush, Task1ne and the Grant High School Drumline.

This is not to mention dozens of presenters and guest appearances by comedians Mike E. Winfield and Keith Lowell Jensen (who’ll be doing stand-up sets at the Sacramento Comedy Spot that night, too). Plus Ground Chuck’s “Chuck It Up” Sammies Chalk Gallery, and a Red Bull deejay dance party, vendors, free stuff and even more free stuff. And then the stuff that even I don’t know about.

Anyway, about that Sharpie: Saturday night. October 1. Block Party. Free. 20th Street. See. You. There.
