Bite Me! An Unofficial Guide to the World of Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s news that this is the last year for what Salon.com has called “the smartest show on television” might make it seem wise to wait for the next edition of this encyclopedia of Slayer lore. However, this is a well-organized and thorough guide to all facets of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff, Angel. In fact, it’s far more useful than the Official Watcher’s Guide, in spite of its lack of promotional photos. The detailed episode guide includes some great tidbits, like information on the music from each episode and a “Willow Wicca Watch” to keep track of the redhead’s magical progress from novice spell-caster to black-eyed destroyer of worlds. Best of all is the scoop on the online Slayer world: posting board parties, Web sites and a chapter on Little Willow, the “Net Goddess of the Buffyverse.” It’s as useful as a sharp stake on a dark night.
