Beer bridge

Last summer, Davis-based Sudwerk released what its owner believes to be the first rye imperial India pale lager in the West Coast market. I didn’t fact-check that statement, but it’s definitely an unusual offering in a land dominated by IPAs. It’s also a nice beer bridge from winter into spring: roasty, spicy and malty while remaining crisp and light, with a not-too-aggressive hoppy finish. Still, it’s smooth and easy, especially considering its 7 percent alcohol content. Find 22-ounce bottles at most bottle shops for $6.99, or go straight to the source. 2001 Second Street in Davis,
