Mic Jordan: One-quarter of Tribe of Levi.

Beats & Poetry, featuring DJ KG, Mahtie Bush, Mic Jordan, M.L.S. and 2-4-1 happens on Thursday, February 12, 9 p.m.; $5; 21 and over. Blue Lamp, 1400 Alhambra Boulevard; (916) 455-3400; www.myspace.com/bluelamp.

Not sure where Tribe of Levi’s emcee Mic Jordan has been lately, but it’s our duty as lovers of the Earth to keep track of this guy. We don’t want him to wander away. Anyone who starts a song (“Time Flies”) like this: “Kids crazy / Wide-eyed / mid-’80s / nine lives / live lazy / those were the times, guys / my, how time flies,” should be doing shows seven times a week. But perhaps Jordan’s trying not to wear himself thin. Or maybe he’s just tired. Or it could just be paranoia. But we need to keep the talented musicians with something to say constantly performing so that the other less talented musicians with absolutely nothing to say get the hint and take up other hobbies, like white-water rafting or drugs. Anyway, Mahtie Bush’s Beats & Poetry is happening again at Blue Lamp, this time with DJ KG, Bush, M.L.S., 2-4-1 and the enigmatic Mic Jordan, who, if we’re lucky, will be in fine spirits and ready to unload a few freestyles on the unsuspecting crowd.
