Armored

Rated 2.0

Six armored-car guards (Matt Dillon, Jean Reno, Laurence Fishburne, Columbus Short, Amaury Nolasco, Skeet Ulrich) conspire to heist their own $42 million cargo, but their half-baked plans quickly go awry—one of them (Fishburne) begins shooting passersby, and another (Short) gets a belated attack of conscience. The trailer for this slam-bang potboiler has been in theaters so long children are seeing it now who couldn’t lift their heads when it started playing, and most of the movie’s 88 minutes have elapsed before we see anything that wasn’t in the trailer. The upshot of it all is a bit dismal: a brand-new movie that we feel we’ve seen a thousand times. Dillon snarls, Short agonizes, Fishburne menaces, all under the paint-by-numbers direction of Nimród Antal, to a wispy script by James V. Simpson.
