Anchorman

This goofy, energetic comedy flattens out at times but milks its 1970s setting and characters for numerous huge laughs. Will Ferrell (Elf and Old School) stars in the title role of a top-rated San Diego newsman who spends his off-camera hours partying with his cavalier news team. This chauvinistic boys club squirms madly when the news producer (the always-excellent Fred Willard) interjects an ambitious woman (Christina Applegate) into the on-air staff who is not content to just cover cat fashion shows and soft news. Ferrell co-wrote the screenplay with director and former Saturday Night Live head writer Adam McKay.
