The Girl Who Played With Fire

Rated 3.0

While this sequel to the unforgettable The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo isn’t on par stylistically with the original, it’s still an intriguing continuation of Lisbeth Salander’s (Noomi Rapace) story. The follow-up involves Lisbeth getting framed for murder while learning some new facts about her messed up family. Rapace is continued greatness in the role, a compelling movie heroine like no other. Daniel Alfredson takes over directorial duties from Niels Arden Opley, and his movie simply doesn’t look as good as Dragon Tattoo. Alfredson’s style is a little flat at times. The story is interesting enough, even though the ending is a little on the preposterous side. A second sequel, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest, is already in the can and on the way, while David Fincher is busy casting his American remake of Tattoo.
