Esoteric Coffeehouse and Gallery is gearing up for bigger concerts. Improvements will include a stage, new lighting and sound systems and an enhanced refreshment selection. The first of these upgrades, the stage, will get christened this weekend with three nights of concerts featuring local singer-songwriters Kate Cotter (Friday), Jeff Peterson (Saturday) and Kerry Getz (Sunday). Getz is a Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter whose latest album, Little Victory, was deemed by the Orange County Register to be the most powerful collection of its kind since Aimee Mann’s Bachelor No. 2. Will Frankin, a hilarious, dryly intelligent comedian whom I saw in the Bay Area not long ago, will open for all three acts. Shows begin at 8 p.m.
