A patriotic Christmas

Ahh, Christmas. The time of the year when snowflakes fall, family and friends gather, carolers sing Christmas songs, and the line at the mall is around the corner and out the door. Tired of having to wade through a sea of people in order to get that perfect gift? Need a night of true holiday cheer? Head to Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City for its Old-Fashioned Patriotic Christmas Concert, held at 7 p.m. Dec. 11. Soprano Lori Trustmen (pictured) and the Reno Chamber Ensemble will fill Piper’s with the sweet sounds of Handel’s Messiah. The concert will pay special tribute to our nation’s firefighters past and present, and all proceeds from the event will go to the restoration of this historic venue. Tickets are $20.
